Rising house prices are fuelling an equity release boom12th February 2018 Latest News
House prices across the country rose by an average of 12.6% between 2014 and 2017, according to statistics from Nationwide Building Society.
- In 1969, average house prices were: £4,312
- In 1975, average house prices were: £10,388
- In 1980, average house prices were: £22,676
- In 2016, average house prices are: £198,564
This exponential rise has resulted in equity release being increasingly common as part of later life financial planning. Whether as a “living inheritance” as older family members help the young onto the property ladder or simply as a means of realizing capital for home improvements, holidays or a higher standard of living equity release continues to boom.
